I first fell in love with this breed while watching them perform
in the obedience rings at Crufts dog shows at Earl’s Court
in the late 1970s. The amazing way these dogs worked and their
desire to work and be a team player was very impressive. The number
of successful Border Collies in the obedience ring showed that
it was not just an exceptional dog or two but something within
the breed.
As
obedience was my first love, (I trained the 3rd OTCH Sheltie in
California, 5th OTCH Sheltie in the U.S.) I knew I wanted to have
a Border Collie. In addition to the way they worked they were
a beautiful breed physically and mentally. Over the years I have
owned three Smooth Dachshunds, two Wire Fox Terriers, six Shelties
and fifteen Border Collies including the six that are co-owned.

I started in obedience competition in the early ‘80s with
Golden Retrievers and an Alaskan Malamute. I have owned six Golden
Retrievers, an Alaskan Malamute, a Rough Collie, and five mixed
breed dogs over the years. I got my first Border Collie in 1993
and he is still with me, as well as one Golden Retriever girl
and my four other Border Collie boys.
